What did you say was on this weekend????

It's been a very slow week this week....far too much work and very little 'play'!  I've hardly even had enough time for stitching or visiting blogs *gasp*, so I've been scanning blogs very quickly, trying to catch up and 'lurking' rather than commenting.!!  Huge apologies to all. *sigh*

However, I did manage to come across Kellie's Quilt Along at Don't Look Now for Joseph's Coat.  I absolutely had to do this one.....
number 1 reason:  my hubby's name's Joseph *ohhhhhhh*
and
number 2 reason:  Gloria, my now-bloggy friend told me about it and isn't it so much easier when you do things with a friend????? ( a bit like dieting and exercise really....but so much more fun!!!)

You can follow us (or better still, join us), and 150 or so others by clicking on the Joseph's Coat button on my sidebar.

This is Kellie's picture off her blog.....isn't it wonderful??

I'm getting ready to go to Cairns this weekend for Kay's Fabrics Inaugural Machine Embroidery, Patchwork and Quilting Seminar.  We've got a very busy two days planned and even get to spend some time with Jenny and Simon Haskins!!!!! Might pick up some tips???  I'm really looking forward to it and fingers crossed, the lucky door prize is a new Janome sewing machine....yayyyyyyyy....I'm so excited, and I'll have lots of photos to share with you when I get back.
Have a wonderful weekend

Dada dada dada dada Batman

Hasn't the week flown...can't believe it's the weekend already. *happy dance*

Saturday morning's generally spent visiting my friends in blogland and I happened upon Tarnyia's link from Vikki's blog....Tarnyia was Vikki's stitcher's angel.  (You can surely see how easy it is to get lost in blogland!!)  Anyways, Tarnyia is in Western Australia (I'd love to visit there someday...Margaret River wineries, Monkey Mia, Broome, ....mmmmm...one day!!) and she linked to a terrific site called Teena's Patchwork and Embroidery.

Now, the moral of the story is.......$6 per metre fabric!!!!....and lots of it !!!! !!!!....how much can you get at that price??...I've just been and spent a pretty penny but I figure, better fabric that I can spread joy with (no, not you JoyPatch!! hehehe) than something less friendly!!

Work's taken over much of my week, but I did get time to finish another gift for my stitcher's angel...I'm about to send off my goodies next week...I sure hope my NZ angel likes them...but they'll have to stay a surprise to you all until I know they've arrived safe and sound....no sneaky peaks this time!!

Have started some blocks for a friend's birthday....not quite sure of the design yet...this will be a 'makeitupasyougoalong' one!!  I do know the theme though.....can you guess???

Hope he likes it.....will keep you posted on it's progression!

And seeing the garden's bloomin' lovely, thought I'd share my beautiful roses with you.....pity you can't smell them.....they're delicious!!!

Look at those buds...just ready to burst!!

Now, I'm off.....dada dada dada dada ........you know the rest!

...After.

More stitching and piecing, ironing and a little bit of unpicking thrown in, and halfway through the day, this was the result....

I thought I was going quite well until I saw the photo, because all I saw were.....

that's right.....butt cheeks!!

I couldn't believe it!!! All my planning in the design stage....I was aiming for a sophisticated looking, artistic, heart-like shape, with movement, folds and sensual curves....... and I ended up with an odd- shaped gluteus maximus *cringe*.

We giggled for ages thinking of appropriate (or maybe inappropriate) names for my 'treasure', as the design for the top half was only halfway through...the other half was not quite symmetrical but did mirror the pattern.  Here it is at the end of the afternoon.......

See what I mean????  We had names like 'bum chums' and others which had us laughing in fits....and then we thought if we turned it upside down, it could be called 'bosom buddies'!!! (droopy, at that!)....aaah, the brain does tend to go a little silly after a day and a half of calculations and too much concentration!

But in all seriousness, it didn't turn out too badly....not quite the heart-shaped design  I'd imagined in my head but...... not a disaster either.....and we all had so much fun!  I just love girly weekends where you can sit and stitch and spend time with a heap of lovely, talented ladies.....and learn something new in the process!  Now, if only we could do more of it!

Still, I don't think I'll get to finish this one till Christmas holidays begin....too many other projects to complete before then, so it will remain a WIP until then and I'll have to think of another more appropriate name for my creative work!!!

What name would you give it???  I'd love to hear your ideas.

Have a great week and sugary hugs to you all,

More duststorms??!!!@##@!!!??

Naaaah, not THAT kind!!!  Here is what I'm talking about!!

Yep...I knew it was comin' but who would've thought they'd burn the cane at 7.30 in the morning???
(This one's taken from our driveway...just to put it in perspective!!!)

It was spectacular though.......I'm sure I'm a closet pyromaniac!!!  (Hide the matches lol!)

but I still prefer night burns best!!
And now, our 'wall of secrecy' is gone....

.....wow....there's a house over there????  Who'd 've known???? lol

and now we know what true duststorms are all about!!!  the other ones were just preparing us for what was to come!!!  The farmers have disced out the cane and there is nothing there to grow at the moment.... so it's dust.....come on down!!!!!!! :(

Changing the subject, I did finish my Leanne Beasley's Christmas sampler! (just have to frame it)

.....and I'm just about ready for our bargello workshop this weekend!

sugary hugs to you all for a great week ahead!
