A long time ago in Bethlehem….
Christmas is sneaking up on us, only 104 days to go…….EEEEEK!!!…..when did THAT happen???? It seems I’ve only just finished packing away the Christmas decorations from last year!!!!! So, in my mind, I’ve been preparing!!! Those of you who follow my blog, know I like my stitching, so, when I saw this SAL, I knew I had to do it. This is the first block and you’ll find it in this edition of Homespun magazine….(volume 13 number 7) ….see???…..here –> Here’s my version……still a little bit to go on the first block….. but, I guess, to my defence, it IS a 14 inch square……..well…..before I trim it back!!!!! hee hee The little marmalade cat is looking on… as are the chickens….. and the mice….. and the puppy…. at the newborn Saviour……. This is a fun stitch-a-long, and I did start a little behind so I’ve a few blocks to catch up on. I’m using the same DMC threads they’ve listed in the pattern and it’s coming up a treat! They’re able to be printed off HERE, every second Wednesday, starting July 18 and finishing December 5……it’s up to block FIVE now!!!! (see what I mean!!!???) I’m almost ready to start this cute fella….. photo courtesy of http://www.completecraft.com.au ….complete with tassels and all!!! Isn’t he cute? I think I might have to do a couple of spare blocks and make them into some Christmas gifties for some special friends….perhaps bags or cushions??? But I think I’ll choose some of the smaller blocks…..otherwise they might not get them till NEXT Christmas! Have you started thinking about Christmas giving yet????? Sugary hugs xox :O)

Hi.....thanks for visiting and I'm glad you've stopped by to visit and leave me a comment. I'll try to reply each time, but if I don't, it's because I've been hijacked by the family.....know I've read it and it reeeeally warms my heart. *insert jiggly heart here*

I saw this in the mag, what a fun way to think of the doings surrounding the birth of Jesus... your stitching is lovely, good luck with the rest of it!
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks incredible!!! ... Actually, I *did* see this quilt in Homespun and am really keen to make it myself - probably should get copies of the next blocks while they're available, eh?!! Lol! Was thinking I'd start some of these blocks over this Christmas and work towards having it finished for *next* year :)

There is one heck of a lot of stitching in that first big block, I have to say I was intimidated so well done on mostly having conquered it! It is looking really good.
