Today has been a day of packing and parcelling and wrapping and tying…….there are lots of parcels on their way ALL around the place……birthdays (some very belated!!! *eek*) and swaps, prizes and just ‘hellos’……
The look on my local posty’s face was priceless when I unloaded a bag of parcels on her desk!!!!! Kept her busy for a little while, I tell you! hee hee But, she was very happy to do it…..I love our local post office staff!!! They’re always so helpful!
I can tell you one of the parcels is my pincushion for a pincushion swap that Maree organised (thanks Maree, it was fun!!!) ..needless to say I can’t tell you WHO it’s going to, but……… *wink* it may be you!!!!! Just hope you like Red, White and Blue!!!!!????
So if you’re waiting for a parcel from me, it’s on its way…….*smile*
I do hope you like what I’ve chosen for you!
I haven’t had a chance to catch up with my Bethlehem blocks since I showed you last but wow, they caused a rush of questions……
It is a gorgeous and fun stitchery and Natashia Curtin of Smee Designs has done a fabulous job at designing it. I’ve loved every minute of it….. So many people, from all over the world, emailed me to ask where they could get block 1 from as the magazine was no longer available…….so off I emailed to the magazine itself and here is the info if you’re interested…….
As you know, Block 1 was published in Homespun Vol 13 No 7 (July 2012) and I think that the most cost-effective and simple way to get that issue now is electronically through Zinio, especially for overseas readers for whom back copies are very expensive. Stitch-A-Longs are designed to be done in a limited time frame – they do not stay on the website indefinitely. Previously, we always deleted the old one when the next one began, but because the Bethlehem one has been so popular, we’ve allowed it to remain online a little longer than usual. It would be a good idea to download all the designs and instructions sooner rather than later.
The website is www.zinio.com and that issue is $3.50 AUD.
Great info and thanks Elizabeth for filling us in……good to know, if there’s a stitch-a-long or quilt-a-long in a magazine…..to grab it while you can!
Yesterday I was working on my new design….’Thank you”……and here’s another sneaky look…….
I was planning to have it finished today and ready to write the pattern tomorrow, but we all know what happens to good plans??….I discovered I have a meeting to go to soon so that threw that idea out the window!!!…..but I plan to have it ready for you over the weekend and then it will be available to purchase in my Craftsy store soon after….I can’t wait…..I really love this one!!!
Hope you’re getting lots done today and managing to fit a little stitchy time in too!

Hey Wendy, thanks for the info regarding picking up the digital issue of homespun. Does anyone know how to "print off the embroidery pattern" in it. I'm guessing there was a paper pattern in the orignal magazine issue. thanks for any help...i'm not used to digital magazines. Thanks! Oh and I can't wait to see the full project of your "sneak peek".
MY you're busy, girl - love your sneak peek, can't wait to see!!!
youve got so much done wendy...
Hugz
Hi Wendy,
Thank God for Jenny Reynolds and you. I am now following your blog. So many wonderful things you have to share. Especially the information for the "Bethlehem" quilt. I order my copy of the Homespun this morning. Can't wait to get started. What a fun project this is going to be. I was trying to figure out how to reproduce that first block. And this morning in my email was all the information I needed.
Thank you !!!! Have a great weekend.
Well, I purchased Homespun magazine this morning based on the information in the blog. It's a digital magazine, which I'm ok with. However, all the instructions and supplies for the Bethlehem quilt are in the magazine, but NOT the actual pattern to draw off Baby Jesus and the animals.
Any suggestions? I've sent an email to Zinio to see what I can get from them.
Thank you.
I got a response back from Zinio, which in essence said: what you see is what you get. There is NO pattern for the first block of the Bethlehem quilt in the digital magazine.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really like to make this quilt and short of re-designing the 1st block, I don't know what else to do.
Thank you.
Those blocks are gorgeous! I've saved them all, except of course for the elusive first one :)
I wonder, EJ if you could email the designer and see if she can help? xxx
Oops, and forgot to say, can't wait to see your new design! xxx
Joy McD,
Thank you, I'll give that a shot.
Hi EJ....sorry I can't reply any other way....you have no reply address....if you could contact me on my email....wbert4 (at)gmail(dot)com, I can try and help!? I've been trying to find a resolution but to no avail as yet.....will keep trying...perhaps contact Nataisha???
sugary hugs
Wendy :O)
Can I get a WHOO HOO for Wendy and Joy and everyone else who helped me with the Bethlehem pattern dilemna? I haven't heard back from the designer yet, but somehow Wendy was able to get me a link from Zinio (who really wasn't much help for me) for the first block.
I am one happy girl today. Bloggers are the best people on earth.
Thanks again Wendy - can't say it enough :)
Hi Wendy, a big thanks to both you and Jenny of Elephantz for this fantastic stitchery design. I have purchased the Homespun magazine to get the first block but I'm also unable to get the diagram for the first block. Please help :( Thanks Lizzi xo
Hi Liz.....hope you see this as I can't link to you any other way!!! IF you've purchased the mag from Zinio, Zinio customers are given a link to the pattern section (not sure why this wasn’t made clear), but this link will take you straight to the PDFs for the first instalment of Long Time Ago in Bethlehem from 13/7. It goes across four pages that need to be printed out at full size and joined together (the design is larger than an A4 page). Hope this helps!?
Wendy :o)
Hi Wendy, Thank you for the help but when I click on the link for the Stitch-a-long PDF's there is no block 1 only blocks 2 - 12. I must be missing something but I'm not sure what that is. Sorry to bother you again :( Lizzi xo
that's ok Liz.....if you scroll up through this post, you'll see a link to zinio where you can purchase the first copy for $3.50AUD and that will give you the pattern for the first block and a link to print off the design.....hope that helps......if you need any more info, it might be easier to contact me on my email .... wbert4 (at) gmail (dot) com .....I'll be happy to help where I can! xo
