My surprise FNSI Announcement and block 7 of ‘Seasons Of’ BOM

Well….are you all antici…………..pated out????…...I told you there was a surprise around the corner!!!……

For the next three months, I will be taking the reins from Heidi and Bobbi to give them a little breather and sort through some challenging times and that means Friday Night Sew In will be held here…….I’ll be the foster mumma for the time being, right up until October, ‘til things calm down for both ladies and it returns home to them, soooooooo,

…..nothing really will change, except that you will come to me to sign up at the beginning of next week for this month’s FNSI on the 19th July and the beginning of the third week for August’s and September’s FNSI.  There will still be prizes,  and for those of you who don’t know about the Friday Night Sew In, aka FNSI, you can read more about it HERE

If you haven’t already, grab the button from my sidebar or here and link it back to my blog…..

Heidi and Bobbi, I thank you for trusting me with your ‘baby’…..I plan to do you proud! :o)

Another ‘release’ is July’s free block for the ‘Seasons Of’  BOM.  This month is the month our National Tree Day is held, or what used to be called Arbor Day.  It’s a day where people plant new trees to replenish those lost and to show an interest in and compassion for, our environment. So of course,  that was the inspiration for this month’s block…….

….a love for all things natural in our gardens, in parks, in forests, reserves, in fact, EVERYWHERE!!!

My favourite book as a child was The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton.

I often got ‘lost’ in the branches and lives of those who lived in the tree and the magic within, so images of Moonface, Silky the fairy, the Saucepan Man Mr Whatsizname, Dame Washalot and all the creatures who lived in the tree came to mind as I was designing this one! I loved visiting all the lands at the top of the tree…… The Land of Topsy Turvy, the Land of Toys and The Land of Dreams along with many other places…..so these mental pictures came flooding into my head too!!!

Such powerful childhood memories and I think it gave me my inherent love and awareness of nature, knowing that there are actual creatures who live in trees,  and how important their homes are for the cycle of life! (even though I really knew it was all made up….the meaning behind the story was very real!)

I would love to see what you make too.  Remember, the pattern is written for both stitchery and applique, your choice…as the instructions for both are within the pattern…..and, If you use the design, please send me a picture and I’ll share it on my blog!

You can download this month’s pattern HERE or over on my sidebar, along with the previous months’ designs.

Looking forward to stitching with you next week and perhaps you’ll sew our tree block into something special!?!  :o)

Sugary hugs xox :o)

Oh Wendy I am sew pleased you are helping Heidi and Bobbi out. Was sad not to do FNSI as I have been with them since there were only five ladies doing it. A very long time ago.

Nice block you are working on.

Love the tree. What in the world was wrong with the name Arbor Day? Seriously. Good to know the USA is not the only one that's crazy these days.

Good for you taking over FNSI for a time. We just never know what you will come up with next do we. You are keeping yourself very busy and out of (or in???) trouble. Enid Blyton books are so precious, and good to still find them around for our littlies to enjoy.

I hope that Heidi and Bobbi get the much needed rest and refreshment while you take the helm of the FNSI. I'm glad to see it continuing! I usually miss the date, LOL! Hopefully this time I will be WITH IT! Does it matter that I don't blog anymore? I can post pics to Flickr.
