FNSI and a busy little ant…..

Today is draw day but before I do, here’s what I got up to on Friday night……

021 (Medium)

Well, to be honest, I didn’t get a lot (of stitching)  done on Friday Night …..just a little bit to finish off the front of my placemat for our Let’s Get Stitched retreat in March, but other than that, I haven’t really done any stitching as I’ve been determined to get into my sewing room and make it respectable again!!!!

I did cook that gorgeous slow cooker meatloaf I wrote about in my last post…….HIGHLY recommend it….it was delish….and gone before I could take a photo!!!!! *gulp*

Nevertheless, here’s a progress report…..I started my mission last week and little by little….(I was in tune with the ant)…… I’ve gone from my personal shame I revealed to you HERE, to this wonderful space……

009 (Medium)

not NEAR as cluttered as before, well maybe a little, but a lot more organised (although I can’t find my bobbin donut now??!! go figure!)

007 (Medium)

I now have my design wall actually on the wall!!!  and a cutting table I can actually cut on because it’s not full of ‘stuff’!

010 (Medium)

…and my new sewing table fits in perfectly…..everything at hand….cutting station, sewing station, ironing station……and can you see what’s hanging under the design wall???   It’s the gorgeous Jen’s wall hanging she made for me with my new logo (which I have yet to create for the blog) .. Isn’t she just perfect?????  Sometimes I think she knows me better than I know myself!  Just love friendships like that…..rare, but wonderful!

011 (Medium)

Harriette is sitting waiting patiently for me to start sewing too…… I really do need to slot in some sewing dates in my diary!!!!

013 (Medium)

I must confess though, the big stuff got hidden under the table behind the fat quarter drawers (all organised though)…..You can see a sewing machine (or two), my light pad, and some four quilts yet to be quilted, plus my stash of wadding….I lumped them all in a clothes hamper that fits nicely underneath….I never realised I had so much!!!!!  (I’ll have to make some more quilts now!!!!! hee hee)

014 (Medium)

My stash of magazines got relocated from the bookshelves in the craft room, to the ones in the garage……not as many as I thought I had……but still a lot!!!!  So yes, my room is expanding, despite hubby’s reluctance……. I’ll whittle away at this now I’ve got things under control!

023 (Medium)

Which left room to organise all my UFOs and craft ‘stuff……(still a bit to do here but the ant’s getting there!!)

008 (Medium)

I have my squares all sorted…..

015 (Medium)

and a shelf for pretties to inspire me…….

016 (Medium)

Like I said….still a ways to go……..but little by little I’m getting there….

018 (Medium)

……(at least now I have floor!!!!!!!…and Ralphy’s pretty impressed too!)

020 (Medium)

The scraps are organised too, but like I said, still some more to go, but I’m happy in my space now…..

019 (Medium)

my large pieces of fabric are sorted by colour and my craft books are stashed neatly in the garage where I can get them when I need them, just opposite the doorway from the sewing room……

024 (Medium)

and the white cupboard tardis that hid a multitude of sins is now in the garage, next to the doorway to the sewing room, housing my scrapbooking gear and a bit of the bulky sewing stuff….still useful and still loved and still handy but organised!

025 (Medium)

So I guess, despite not doing much in the way of stitching, I did do lots of stitching related stuff which has boosted my mojo no end!….and if I can do it……..you can too! (that’s if you’re a hoarder like me….which according to the emails I got, I’m not alone!!!!!!)

On Friday I also sent Pat S her birthday gift in our Birthday Fat Quarter Swap…..I am a little late as her birthday was January 11, but I was searching for some flannel as she wanted, which was a bit difficult up here in the tropics!  Hopefully it will find it’s way to her house swiftly and she’ll love it!

006 (Medium)

So if you’ve managed to stick with me until now, it’s time for the FNSI draw.  There were 61 of us stitching together on Friday night which was fabulous!!!  A new year, a new start and lots of enthusiasm!

The prize for this month is another of Jenny of Elefantz’s gorgeous patterns…..Rose House Sampler…

026 (Medium)

Wouldn’t you just love to make that????

Drumroll please………………….

The organisation of your sewing space is coming along very well. Sorry but I didn't end up getting any sewing done for FNSI, maybe next time.

Hi Wendy. Wow, you have been busy. I'm impressed with the amount of things you have neatly stored in your sewing room. I'm trying to be a little more organised myself but have a little less space than you. More space than I had in our last house though - at least I can keep my sewing machine up here! Have a great week with lots of stitching. Cheers, Tracy.

Great to visit your blog Wendy.
The room looks great. Always refreshing to have a good tidy up....often a work in progress :)
Hoping to get back to FNSI after the holiday break.....sometimes gets a little busy at home with everyone here....but all good!
