I’ve been giving some sneaky peeks of a finish I just couldn’t show you till now…….
This is the quilt that Dawn and I designed for our Sew It’s Finished blog in 2012 ….but now it has found a very special place to call home.
We designed this together to show the changing seasons in the southern hemisphere, as most of the ones we see are very northern hemisphere- oriented with snow at Christmastime and summer in July……if only, we say here in Oz!!!!!
I was able to finish it, quilting and all, ready to take down to Lets Get Stitched in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago (yes, you all know what a procrastinator I am!!!!) to be handed over to a very special and talented lady who I love very much and am very proud and blessed to call her my friend!
You see, Dawn and I made a pact that we would make one each, and I would make it in her favourite Fig Tree fabrics……well, during the process of designing the pattern, Dawn was diagnosed with breast cancer and had some huge battles to get through, so she never quite got hers started. But I stitched mine up with prayers in my heart for her and after writing the pattern, I knew mine had a good home.
However, a year passed, Dawn had her treatment and came out the other side as good as new (well, as good as can be!!!) and the completed flimsy sat there, waiting for some FMQ inspiration…..well, I got the bug when Let’s Get Stitch approached….I knew I just had to have it ready, so off to the machine I went! Here are some close ups……
I love it, and I hope you do too. You can pop on over to Dawn’s blog HERE to see what she thought!!!!!
Would you like to make your own??? We will have the pattern available now and for a limited time on my Craftsy store so if if you’d like to purchase a copy, head on over there now.
See you at FNSI tonight……if you haven’t signed up, you can link in to join us HERE
