I've been working with the Farmers Wife Quilt Along group on FB where we do a block a week and so far we're up to block 12, which I completed a few weeks back. They're so easy to do in front of a movie and the added bonus of keeping my hands busy so I don't nibble when I shouldn't, is fabulous!
Since then, I've completed a few more blocks, all paper pieced and hand stitched and I completed block 16 on Friday night.
I probably should have used a darker thread and I need to practice my 'invisible' stitching but it's not too bad, considering! I have been taught the 'flatback' stitch but I'm not comfortable with it so back to the good ol' method for me with a load more practice...or perhaps I need to give the 'flatback' another go!
If you haven't had a chance to see what our wonderful ladies did on Friday night at their places, pop on back to the previous post and click on each of their links. I'm sure they'd love the visit. Perhaps next month you could join along with us? It's easy, just add your blog/insta/fb link to the Mr Linky at the bottom of the post which will be added to my blog at the beginning of the third week of the month. Next month , FNSI will be held on the 15th so look out for the link up post from the 12th.
Looking forward to meeting some new faces for our virtual stitch along party!
Happy stitching and sugary hugs xox :o)
Lovely blocks Wendy. It's such a beautiful quilt. Good job keeping on track and thanks for hosting us x
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy - your blocks look great! I suspect that with a darker thread your stitching would be fine - I am not so keen on the flat stitch either. xx
ReplyDeleteOh no! I forgot to sign up. Life is so full and changing so fast at the moment, I've totally forgotten.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look fine. It light thread give it a vintage touch. A darker one will be seen less for sure.
Greetings from Germany,
Rike
All your blocks look great Wendy ...
ReplyDeleteThanks again for hosting . ❤️
All your blocks look fabulous, Wendy! I'd been humming and haaing about hand piecing a FW quilt. Seeing yours gave me the nudge I needed and I joined the fb group.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks Wendy, the look so lovely. I tried to reply to your comment on my FNSI post but you've come up as a no reply blogger. Hugs,xx
ReplyDeleteYour block looks great to !me. Thanks for hosting the FNSI again
ReplyDeleteThey look beautiful. I struggle with flatback stitching too so use whip stitch, my stitches show a bit at the moment but apparently they'll become less prominent as the papers are removed and the blocks stitched together
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely blocks Wendy. I had to look pretty hard to spot the stitches, and even then I didn't spot many so I think you'll be okay x
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look great.
